Lucas di Grassi has set his sights firmly on securing victory for Abt Schaeffler Audi Sport at this weekend’s Buenos Aires ePrix.
With di Grassi 22 points adrift of Renault e.Dams’ Sebastien Buemi in this year’s championship fight, the Brazilian is looking to reduce the gap as Formula E gears up for the third round of the season.
Despite having failed to qualify in the top ten so far this season, last year’s championship runner-up managed to secure a podium finish in Hong Kong, whilst securing solid points in Marrakesh.
“The goal is clear: we want to go for the win in Buenos Aires and get as many points as possible,” says Lucas di Grassi ahead of the event in Argentina.
“The circuit should suit our car well, and our engineers have not only rested in the winter break, but have developed many details as well.
“Buenos Aires is something of a home race for me. So I’m looking forward to a lot of support from family friends and, of course, our fans.”
Team-mate Daniel Abt is also aiming for an improvement in form and will be looking for his first podium in the Argentine capital.
The German driver endured a problematic race in Hong Kong and retired with battery issues, but secured his first finish of the season in Marrakesh with a sixth place.
“In the first year I was close to the podium. Now, we are going to attack again,” declared Abt.
“I like the circuit in Argentina and I’m eager to finally get back in the car. We have done our homework and in the last few weeks we’ve refreshed ourselves again in the simulator. We are ready for the re-launch of the Formula E season.”
The Abt Schaeffler Audi Sport team are currently in joint-second place with Mahindra Racing on 36 points. Runaway leaders Renault e.Dams currently have 74 points.
