Heidfeld: Wins are a “realistic target” for Mahindra

Buenos Aires ePrix – Nick Heidfeld believes that wins are now a tangible goal for Mahindra after a strong start to their Season Three campaign.

Mahindra has had its best start to a Formula E season, with two podiums and a pole position in the first two races in Hong Kong and Marrakech.

“[Wins] are definitely on our list now. It is a realistic target,” Heidfeld told Motorbox Radio.

“There are still a lot of teams we have to beat to do that, especially eDAMS, they still have a bit of an upper hand. But if they don’t perform perfectly and we do everything right, I think there’s a chance.”

Mahindra is yet to takes its first Formula E victory, but the M3Electro would appear to be the team’s best chance yet as they currently sit third in the constructors’ championship on equal points to ABT Schaeffler Sport.

Team mate Felix Rosenqvist, who took Mahindra’s maiden pole in only his second race last time out in Marrakech, is also aiming for victories after his podium finish in Morocco.

“I was not expecting this when I started. But after Hong Kong I raised my bar a little bit and I’m not anymore happy to be scoring points but after I scored a podium I want to score a win. That’s the next target.

“But I know also that everything changes very quickly, it’s a competitive championship. There’s going to be some oscillation through the year. We just have to take it race by race.”
