Monaco Grand Prix – Both the Alfa Romeo and Haas teams have fitted new spec power units from Ferrari to their cars for this weekend.
Ferrari introduced the new specification power units for themselves at the last Grand Prix, the Spanish Grand Prix in Barcelona. While they were made available as per the rules for Haas and Alfa Romeo, the two Ferrari customer teams elected to wait until Monaco to fit the new engines.
For the start of this weekend, Alfa Romeo’s Kimi Raikkonen and Antonio Giovinazzi have fitted the Spec 2 engines, as have the Haas drivers Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen. All four drivers have also fitted new MGU-H and turbocharger elements.
The rules allow for three of each of these power unit components to be used throughout the year and, with all four drivers only getting fitted out with their second of each for the year, they are well within the engine rules for the year, meaning no penalties will apply.
