Alpha Tauri have released their new look for the 2020 season, having been rebranded from the former Toro Rosso team.
Alpha Tauri have been formally launched at a presentation event in Austria. Taking place at the Hangar 7 facility belonging to Red Bull, the presentation ceremony marked the formal rebranding for the former Toro Rosso team.
Red Bull have made the decision to rebrand the team to Alpha Tauri in order to help promote their new clothing line, which they are aiming to expand. This meant that media and fans were treated to a lengthy showcase of the current clothing line, with models showing off the clothes range as part of the presentation ceremony.
Finally, the focus switched to the car and Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat pulled back the covers to show off the new livery and look for the Alpha Tauri team.
The new car will debut at a shakedown filming day at the Misano Circuit in Italy on Saturday, with Daniil Kvyat scheduled to drive the car.
“The name change has no effect on the way we operate as a Formula 1 team at the race track or our facilities in Faenza and Bicester, but it is a very significant change in terms of how we present ourselves to the outside world: new name and new colours (white and navy blue), to mark a new long-term partnership which will be beneficial for both parties.” said team boss Franz Tost.
With Kvyat and Gasly retained from the second half of the 2019 season, Tost says the continuity is important: “We benefit from that also on the driver front, with Pierre Gasly and Daniil Kvyat once again in the cockpit. In fact, by the end of last year, Daniil had driven more races for this team than any other driver, and our duo together represents the most experienced one in our team’s history.”
“Both drivers proved to be quick, showed fighting spirit and they are still eager to show to the world what they can do in this sport. So, new name, same team and we can’t wait to see more action this season!”
