Barcelona Testing – Valtteri Bottas’ morning time proved to be enough to claim day two honours, with Raikkonen spinning out late on.

The Finn’s supersoft tyre ‘performance run’ produced the fastest time of pre-season testing so far. His 1:19.310 time edged out Felipe Massa’s ultrasoft tyre run in the Williams FW40.

Kimi Raikkonen’s best lap from the morning session remained the third fastest time despite missing the final couple of hours due to a spin in the SF70H at turn three. It is not yet known whether this was driver error or car failure.

Despite missing a chunk of time with a power unit change in the middle of the day, Red Bull Racing and Max Verstappen were still able to register 102 laps over the day. However, the Dutchman’s day ended early after stopping on the circuit with 20 minutes still to run.

Lance Stroll was able to complete a trouble-free afternoon in the Williams, clocking 59 laps and a time good enough for fifth place, ahead of Lewis Hamilton, who spent the afternoon completing longer runs, including a 20-lap stint on the ultrasoft tyre.

Renault’s Nico Hulkenberg edged out Sergio Perez (Force India) for seventh, with Carlos Sainz (Toro Rosso) in ninth ahead of Romain Grosjean (Haas).

Pascal Wherlein completed more valuable mileage after his injury and finished the day in eleventh for Sauber ahead of McLaren’s Fernando Alonso.

Marcus Ericsson brought out the red flags in the dying moments of the session as the usually-reliable Sauber broke down on circuit, whilst Jolyon Palmer could only manage 29 laps after technical problems early on in his stint.
