Belgian Grand Prix – McLaren’s Carlos Sainz and Racing Point’s Lance Stroll will also take grid penalties for Sunday as a result of power unit changes.
On Friday morning, it was confirmed that the two Renault drivers Nico Hulkenberg and Daniel Ricciardo, as well as Toro Rosso’s Daniil Kvyat and Red Bull Racing’s Alex Albon. These penalties were for power unit upgrades.
Since then, the FIA has confirmed two more drivers will take grid drops – meaning six of the twenty drivers will have taken grid penalties at this early stage of the weekend.
McLaren’s Carlos Sainz has been confirmed as taking a new power unit, meaning he will take a grid penalty as well.
Lance Stroll has also had his Racing Point fitted with a new Spec 3 Mercedes power unit, meaning he will also take a grid penalty.
Any further engine component changes will trigger further penalties.
