A meeting in Monaco has ended with promoters agreeing to avoid clashes between the various championships, wherever possible, in the future.

The meeting included Formula One’s Director of Motorsports, Ross Brawn, FIA WEC CEO Gérard Neveu and Formula E’s Alejandro Agag.

Also in attendance was the president of the FIA, Jean Todt, the FIA Secretary General for Sport, Peter Bayer, and Formula One’s Global Director, Promoter and Business Relations Chloe Targett-Adams.

The three championships have suffered from calendar clashes in previous years, notably Le Mans has frequently clashed with a Formula One Grands Prix.

This season, a clash between the New York ePrix double-header and the WEC round at the Nürburgring has caused drivers competing in both series to miss out on an event.

Several drivers compete in both Formula E and the WEC, with the highest-profile driver affected being Sébastien Buemi, who is challenging for both championships.

Commenting on the meeting, Gérard Neveu said:

“With so much great motorsport available to competitors, fans and television spectators worldwide, the setting of schedules is one of the most challenging tasks for any promoter.

“We all work hard to produce calendars that make practical, economical and climatic sense, and we try and avoid clashes between championships.

“Our positive meeting in Monaco yesterday has begun a new process to further harmonise our calendars for the benefit of all motor sport fans.”
