FIA summon Ferrari before right of review hearing over Vettel penalty

Paul Ricard, France

French Grand Prix – The FIA has summonsed representatives from Ferrari to a hearing involving race stewards over the Sebastian Vettel penalty from Canada.

Ferrari came to Paul Ricard this week having decided against lodging a formal appeal against the time penalty that cost Sebastian Vettel victory in the Canadian Grand Prix two weeks ago.

However, they signaled their intent to take a different approach – namely going to the FIA for a ‘right of review’ over the decisions made by the Canadian Grand Prix race stewards.

The FIA have now summonsed representatives from Ferrari to attend a hearing, including the stewards from Montreal, to take place at Paul Ricard. It will be held in the stewards room at 14:15 local time (13:15GMT) on Friday afternoon.

The hearing is being held upon formal request from Ferrari for a review of the decision taken by race stewards to impose a five second time penalty upon Sebastian Vettel. The hearing can only have been set upon presentation of new and relevant evidence from Ferrari – what this evidence is has yet to be announced.
