Monaco Grand Prix – Red Bull Racing’s Pierre Gasly insists he has been given all the support necessary to improve his performances after a tough introduction to the Red Bull senior team.
Pierre Gasly’s promotion from Toro Rosso to Red Bull Racing has been troublesome. His integration into the team was set back by crashes in pre-season testing and he has so far sturggled to match the pace shown by team-mate Max Verstappen.
This has prompted questions over whether or not Red Bull still back the 23-year-old, who is said to be struggling with the characteristics of the car.
Speaking ahead of the Monaco Grand Prix, Gasly said that the key figures at the team have been really supportive since joining the team and that they’re understanding where the performance deficits are.
“Since the start of the season, there are a lot of things that haven’t gone my way in a lot of weekends. Inside the team, we know exactly what’s happening. Maybe on the outside, looking at the results is the only thing you can see. On the inside, we have a lot more information so they know that things didn’t really come my way and we’ve had a couple of issues here and there.
“I think they’re really supportive, they’re trying to give me the best environment I need to perform and develop myself.
“I’ve seen Christian last week at the factory when I was in the simulator. I have [Red Bull Racing Advisor] Helmut [Marko] on the phone every week when I don’t see him at the race track. Everything is going well.”
