Red Bull Racing’s Pierre Gasly has brought out the red flags to end the team’s testing early for the second time within a week at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
Gasly brought out the red flags halfway through the afternoon session on Wednesday after losing the rear of his RB15 upon entry to the fearsome Turn 9 corner.
Ripping the rear and front wings from the car, Gasly was unhurt and clambered free of his severely damaged RB15. The damage effectively ends Red Bull’s involvement in Thursday’s test as the damage is highly unlikely to be repairable before the end of testing in just over two hours time.
It’s the second time in a week Red Bull have had their day ended early by Gasly, as the Frenchman also crashed in the afternoon of Day 3 during last week’s first test.
The team are yet to confirm a cause of the crash.
