Testing – Formula 1 2018 pre-season testing has begun. Stay with us for live updates throughout the third day.
17:00 – That’s it! The chequered flag puts us all out of our misery and ends the largely uninformative day. Alonso puts in a final ‘flyer’ with a 2:18.545. No other times were set…
16:49 – There’s a time on the board! With just over ten minutes to go, Alonso pops in a 2:21.268 to go atop the timing sheets. He’s done eight laps now.
16:27 – Alonso is the only driver lapping at the moment. He’s gone beyond the usual installation lap.
15:35 – In case you don’t believe us when we say cars have been on track, here’s a lovely snap of Robert Kubica driving out of the pit lane earlier on…
15:15 – It’s continued to be quiet. Extremely quiet.
On his one-and-only lap Daniel Ricciardo took a little trip into the gravel, but he was able to recover back to the pits.
Since then, Williams’ Robert Kubica and Toro Rosso’s Brendon Hartley have completed installation laps. Nobody has bothered to carry on and complate a lap time though.
At least the teams won’t have any reason to say they didn’t have the chance to do some wet-weather testing…
13:55 – We’ve been quiet, but that’s because there’s nothing happening. We’ve had Fernando Alonso’s McLaren, Daniel Ricciardo’s Red Bull and Marcus Ericsson’s Sauber out on track for an install lap and…well, that’s about it really!

12:15 – We’ve been green for a while now, but we’ve only just had the first car come out.
Fernando Alonso does an installation lap in his McLaren on wet-weather tyres before returning to the pits.
The track is silent once again.
11:00 – Green flag! The circuit is open and day three of testing can begin…any takers?
10:15 – Still no sign of the session starting. Snow/sleet continues to fall.
09:28 – The snow’s creating some unusual – but stunning – shots for our friends at Octane Photographic…
09:18 – We’re wondering if another tyre compound should’ve been brought for today’s test day…
9:09 – Of course, it’s days like this where the team’s social media personnel really earn their money. Sterling effort from Mercedes…

9:05 – Say what you like about the lack of track time, but the snow has certainly made for some stunning shots…

9:01 – The main reason for the delay is that the medical helicopter is unable to fly, should it be required.
9:00 – Good morning everybody! We’ve ticked over to the usual start time, but as you may have seen from some of the teams on social media, snow has delayed the start of the session.
