Mexican Grand Prix – Toro Rosso have confirmed that they will use Pierre Gasly and Brendon Hartley for the upcoming Mexican Grand Prix.

In what will be the team’s fourth driver combination of the season, Gasly will once again replace Daniil Kvyat for the race at the  Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.

Red Bull development driver Gasly was originally brought into the team to replace Kvyat from the Malaysian Grand Prix onwards.

However, Gasly missed the United States Grand Prix to contest the final round of the Super Formula Championship, but the finale was ultimately cancelled due to a typhoon and the Frenchman missed out on winning the championship by half a point.

Kvyat returned to drive in Austin in place of Gasly – finishing in tenth place and claiming one point – but Gasly will now reclaim the seat for the Mexican Grand Prix.

Hartley, meanwhile, was brought in after Carlos Sainz’s 2018 move to Renault was brought forward, with the Spanish driver now contesting the rest of the season with Renault.

It was suggested that Hartley’s surprise appearance would be a one-off, and that Gasly and Kvyat would see out the rest of the season. However, it would appear Hartley has impressed enough to be given another opportunity in Mexico.

The driver line-up for the subsequent Brazilian and Abu Dhabi Grands Prix remains unconfirmed.
