Singapore Grand Prix-
A close qualifying session saw Red Bull’s Max Verstappen qualify fourth, while his teammate Alex Albon had to settle for sixth. A small improvement for Max on his final lap in Q3 wasn’t enough to move him up the order and he was visibly frustrated.
In a short statement on Twitter, Max said: “Starting P4 tomorrow is not good enough and not what we were expecting. We came here to win, which will be difficult, but we will push hard to try”. The Red Bulls have got an opportunity to score a podium tomorrow as their car has consistently been good on race day. Around Singapore it’s strengths are visible in the tight and twisty final sector, with Max setting the fastest final sector of anybody on his final run. There must, however, be some concern for Max and Alex as the Honda engine has had some issues this weekend. Danil Kvyat’s engine suffered a problem in free practice which forced him to sit out the rest of the session. Although Christian Horner dismissed claims that there is concern, we can be sure that precautions will be taken.
Tomorrow will be Max’s second time starting from P4 in Singapore having done so previously in 2016. It is also the 18th time that Red Bull have started in the top five in Singapore. The statistics bode well for the race.
The race gets underway tomorrow at 13:10 UK time
