Verstappen takes Driver Of The Day accolade from Kubica

Austrian Grand Prix – Following an internal investigation, Max Verstappen has been crowned the official F1 Driver of the Day for the Austrian Grand Prix after a technical glitch initially awarded it to Williams’ Robert Kubica.

After Sunday’s race, Robert Kubica was named as Driver of the Day – something that could be considered a bit strange, considering he came home in last place.

However, Formula 1 has since announced that it was an error on their part due to a technical glitch that incorrectly allocated him the wrong number of votes.

After a review, it’s emerged that Max Verstappen officially won the Driver of the Day accolade with 74% of the public vote, with Charles Leclerc second with 11% and Carlos Sainz third with 7% after rising from P19 to P8 at the chequered flag.
