Ferrari’s F1 season is getting closer to ignition, following Sebastian Vettel’s seat fitting and the first firing up of the new car.
It’s been a busy two days at the Gestione Sportiva facility in Maranello, with work continuing ahead of the pre-season test programme in two weeks time. Ferrari this week carried out their first firing up of the 2020 car on Thursday, with engineers and management present as the power unit was switched on for the first time in 2020. According to the team, the car was fired up successfully for around thirty seconds. Watch the video, supplied by Ferrari, down below.
Sebastian Vettel then arrived at Maranello on Friday, for the first meetings of 2020. He met with the car engineers and Team Principal Mattia Binotto before heading to the car preparation bays for his seat fitting to ensure a snug fit for the year.

Before the 2020 car is launched, Ferrari will visit Jerez in southern Spain for a special Pirelli tyre test. On February 8th, an adapted mule car will be tested with the 18 inch tyres fitted for the first of many such tests through 2020 ahead of the new wheels’ introduction in 2021. Ferrari are yet to confirm who will be carrying out this test day. The information gathered at this test will be shared amongst all the teams and all will be given the chance to carry out similar tests throughout the year, provided they have a suitable mule car. This will either be a 2018 or 2019 car adapted to run the bigger wheels.
Following the launch of the 2020 car, Ferrari will travel to Barcelona for the official pre-season test days at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
