The Williams team may finally make an appearance in 2019 pre-season testing, as the FW42 is scheduled to hit the track this afternoon.
Update 14:00: Williams say George Russell is sitting in the car in the garage and they intend to send him out as soon as is possible.
After being forced to cancel a filming day over last weekend and missing the first two days of testing due to the new car not being ready, Williams flew the car in to Spain on Tuesday night. Arriving at the circuit between 4 and 5 am on Wednesday morning, the car has been worked on continuously throughout the morning and the team have successfully carried out at least one fire-up of the engine.
The latest from the team is that they are aiming to get George Russell out in the car during the afternoon on Wednesday, with the young rookie driver having finished getting settled into the car during the morning and going through seat fitting and checks.
There hasn’t been any notification of any further delays yet, meaning that the FW42 should head out on track at some point during the afternoon. According to Williams, “Everyone in the garage is working flat out to get on track as soon as possible.”
