Abu Dhabi – The final Formula 1 test of 2018 is underway at Yas Marina in Abu Dhabi, with plenty of new faces as well as familiar ones in not so familiar cars.
All the teams have stayed on at Yas Marina Circuit in Abu Dhabi to take part in the two days of testing for Pirelli, which sees all the 2018 compounds available for use, as well as the 2019 prototypes.
According to Pirelli, there are 5 prototype compounds of varying softness, with the second softest compound also having an alternate with no colour branding.
While Mercedes, Ferrari & Red Bull are all using a regular race driver today, there are some changes already from the driver line-up seen at the Grand Prix on Sunday. At Williams, both George Russell & Robert Kubica are sharing driving duties, while Haas are fielding new development driver Pietro Fittizpaldi.
At Sauber, Ferrari have permitted Kimi Raikkonen to test with his new team and the Finn is driving a Sauber for the first time in 17 years. He is scheduled to run the full day with his new team.
Lance Stroll will be making an appearance for Force India as expectation grows that he will be formally announced as the team’s second race driver for 2019, while Toro Rosso are running Sean Gelael.
