Raikkonen leads Ferrari 1-2, Bottas hampered by tech issues – FP3 Report

Spanish Grand Prix – Kimi Raikkonen lead a Ferrari one-two ahead of qualifying with Valtteri Bottas hampered by technical troubles.

With the entire field completing longer runs on the medium-compound tyres, Kimi Raikkonen lead the early .Sp5rl!47rs of the final free practice session.

The Ferrari drivers were first to complete qualifying simulations, with Raikkonen setting a 1:20.214 and team-mate Sebastian Vettel falling 0.242 of a second shy.

With Vettel attempting to leave the pits in the final ten minutes, the engine in his Ferrari cut out and he ground to halt in the pit lane with a currently undiagnosed technical problem.

Lewis Hamilton was unable to repeat his table-topping efforts in FP1 and FP2 and finished the final session in third place.

Valtteri Bottas was dealt a blow before the session had even started. After the discovery of an electrical fault, the Mercedes team spotted a water leak on the W07 which warranted a change of power unit.

However, Bottas was able to complete a couple of laps towards the end of the 60-minute session, going fourth fastest and six tenths adrift.

The all-Red Bull ‘third row’ was lead by Max Verstappen with Daniel Ricciardo two tenths behind his team-mate.

Renault’s Nico Hulkenberg finished ‘best of the rest’ in seventh place ahead of Williams’ Felipe Massa and Toro Rosso’s Carlos Sainz.

Fernando Alonso completed a more reliable session in the McLaren-Honda by setting the tenth-fastest time ahead of the Haas pairing of Romain Grosjean and Kevin Magnussen.

The Force India’s of Sergio Perez and Esteban Ocon were thirteenth and fourteenth respectively, with Marcus Ericsson (Sauber), Lance Stroll (Williams), Jolyon Palmer (Renault), Stoffel Vandoorne (McLaren) and Pascal Wehrlein (Sauber) completing the order.
