Antonio Giovinazzi and Paul di Resta will have the opportunity to sample Formula E machinery when they participate in next weekend’s rookie driver test.
Development driver for the Ferrari Formula One team, Giovinazzi will take part in the one-day session with the DS Virgin Racing team, alongside last year’s European Formula Three runner-up Joel Eriksson.
Meanwhile, Williams’ current reserve driver di Resta will take the wheel of a Jaguar I-Type II, the other being occupied by last season’s World Series Formula V8 champion Pietro Fittipaldi.
Both drivers participated at some point during the 2017 Formula One season, with Giovinazzi driving two races for Sauber and di Resta taking part in one race for Williams.
Giovinazzi was a strong candidate for a Alfa Romeo Sauber drive for the 2018 season, but ultimately lost out to Marcus Ericsson and Charles Leclerc, whilst di Resta remains a long-shot for the as-yet-unconfirmed second Williams seat.
The pair are standout names on the rookie driver entry which also includes long-time McLaren test driver Gary Paffett (Venturi) and Formula Two racers Nyck de Vries (Audi Sport Abt) and Alexander Albon (Renault e.Dams).
The Marrakesh ePrix takes place on Saturday 13th January, with the rookie test scheduled to take place on Sunday 14th.
