Haas: Rich Energy is still our title sponsor

Silverstone, UK

British Grand Prix – Haas F1 Team say that the Rich Energy company remains its title sponsor, despite a bizarre tweet from the company stating otherwise.

Late on Wednesday evening, Rich Energy tweeted to say that they were pulling out of their Haas F1 Team title sponsorship deal, which only began this season.

Citing ‘poor performance’ from the team, they said that “Today, we terminated our contract with Haas for poor performance. We aim to beat Red Bull Racing & being behind Williams in Austria is unacceptable. The politics and PC attitude in F1 is also inhibiting our business. We wish the team well.”

Haas didn’t immediately respond to the tweet, and instead released a statement on Thursday morning to say that, to their knowledge, Rich Energy’s deal remains airtight:

“Rich Energy is currently the title partner of Haas F1 Team. I cannot comment further on the contractual relationship between our two parties due to commercial confidentiality.”

Haas have largely remained tight-lipped about their title sponsors legal problems surrounding the use of their logo, embroiled in a court battle with British cycling company Whyte Bikes. The team stopped using the contentious stag logo on their car after the Monaco Grand Prix.
