Hamilton takes out new power unit parts for Hungarian GP

Hungarian Grand Prix – Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton has taken new power unit parts for this weekend’s race at the Hungaroring.

The FIA have confirmed that Mercedes have decided to change the energy store and the control electronics on Lewis Hamilton’s car ahead of qualifying for the Hungarian Grand Prix.

The technical delegate’s notification from the FIA confirmed that the Briton will use his second energy store and control electronics of the year.

Under the current regulations, only two of these components are permitted to be used over the course of the season.

Therefore, the Briton will take no penalties for taking these new components.

However, if any new energy stores or control electronics are required before the end of the season, he will receive grid penalties.
