Testing – Formula 1 2018 pre-season testing has resumed for the second week. Stay with us for live updates throughout the fifth day.
14:28 – It’s quite warm at the circuit now, almost 20 degrees, and we’ve seen the Haas of Kevin Magnussen head out on the SuperSofts for a short tun – the first time Haas have tried them out in this pre-season.
Vettel remains fastest with his morning time, while McLaren have gotten Vandoorne back out on track and running solidly for the afternoon. Lewis Hamilton has taken over driving duties at Mercedes and the team have now racked up over 100 laps today.
In other news, Sauber have announced that Tatiana Calderon will be their official Test driver for this year, with team boss Frederic Vasseur saying:
“We are very pleased to continue our collaboration with Tatiana Calderón as our Test Driver. Tatiana is a very hard-working person, who has impressed the team with her focus and dedication. She has made good progress as a driver, developing both her mental and physical capacities continuously over the past few years. We look forward to having Tatiana on board for our first chapter as the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team.”
Smashing through the 100 lap mark for the day. Top effort, boys!

McLaren have managed to get Vandoorne back out on track in the minutes leading up to lunch, with the McLaren now sporting a rather striking flow-viz livery on the lower half of the car.
12:00 – We’ve just had a very impressive flurry of laps from Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel. Out on the Medium tyre, he did a stint of about ten laps in the low 1:21s before dropping into the 1:20s before taking the fastest time with 1:20.396. He now leads Valtteri Bottas and Max Verstappen.
11:00 – Kevin Magnussen, in P5, has just put in his personal best lap so far and is within a second of the front. He set that time on the Soft compound.

10:45 – Fastest time of the day so far is Valtteri Bottas for Mercedes. He has clocked a 1:20.631 on the Soft tyres, with Vettel just thousandths behind in P2 on the same tyres. Pierre Gasly is P3 for Toro Rosso, with Max Verstappen P4 for Red Bull Racing.
The only driver we’re awaiting a time from is Renault’s Nico Hulkenberg – he has just two installation laps on the board so far.
10:40 – It’s been a steady start to the day, we have laptimes on the board from seven of the ten runners so far. This includes McLaren’s Stoffel Vandoorne, despite him bringing out the red flags a short while ago. His car ground to a halt, and the team say this was due to a power shutdown and that he should be back out shortly.
Vandoorne's stoppage at the end of the pit straight caused our first red flag
