Singapore Grand Prix – Force India have confirmed they will run updates on their VJM11 this weekend.
Having weathered the tough period leading up to their takeover and renaming as ‘Racing Point Force India’, the team are now able to re-focus their efforts on finding more performance in their quest to resume P6 in the Constructor’s Championship – the position they were in before the summer break and the loss of their season’s points.
Coming to Singapore, team boss Otmar Szafnauer confirmed that the team have ‘more performance to bring to the car this weekend with an updated aerodynamic package’. This includes a new front wing, as well as changes to the undertray and floor.
With the team now funded by the Racing Point consortium under Lawrence Stroll, their immediate financial future is secure. Szafnauer says this gives the team the confidence it needs to attack on track again:
“We arrive in Singapore after two strong weekends where we maximized what was available to us. 32 points combined from Spa and Monza is an excellent effort and the team deserves credit for performing so well after all the uncertainty that surrounded us in August.”
“I think Singapore is another opportunity to build on this momentum and keep scoring points. Traditionally we have always gone well there and both drivers enjoy street circuits.
“It’s never easy to introduce and understand new parts during Friday practice, but hopefully we can unlock some performance straight away. Beyond Singapore, we hope the developments will keep us competitive as we begin the final third of the season.”
