Williams say their delayed start to the 2019 season may end tonight as their FW42 is apparently due to arrive in Spain over the course of Tuesday night.
Having missed the initial two days of testing due to the FW42 not being ready to ship to Spain, Deputy Team Principal Claire Williams said that the team were most likely to begin testing on Wednesday.
This looks like this estimated timeline may yet work out, as Williams have now confirmed that their FW42 is scheduled to leave their factory in Grove, Oxfordshire and be flown out to Barcelona overnight. They say the car is ‘likely’ to arrive at the circuit between 4 & 5am on Wednesday morning.
With the car having not even gone through a preliminary shakedown yet, they say that there is a ‘fair amount of work to do but we’ll be working as fast as we can’ to try getting the car out before the lunchtime break.
Williams were scheduled to run Nicholas Latifi for Wednesday but, with track time now very limited for the team ahead of the season opener in Melbourne, all driving will be done by race drivers Robert Kubica & George Russell.
