Reigning World Endurance champion Neel Jani has been signed for Dragon Racing for next season in place of Loic Duval.
Jani, who won Le Mans with Porsche in LMP1 last year en route to the championship alongside Romain Dumas and Marc Lieb, has privately tested Dragon’s Season 3 car in preparation for his public debut at Valencia pre-season testing.
“We are thrilled to welcome Neel who will pilot our number 6 entry in Season 4,” said Jay Penske, Team Owner and Principal of Dragon Racing.
“As a team, we have set our target of winning races and competing for the championship in the coming season, and Neel was an essential component of that equation.
“When you look at the best drivers in the world, from both a racing and car development perspective, Neel is at the top of the list. He’s an excellent fit within our program.”
Porsche will leave LMP1 at the end of the season, leaving Jani available to race full time in Season 4 as Dragon were looking for after needing Mike Conway to stand in for Loic Duval for the Paris ePrix as the Frenchman had prior DTM commitments.
Jerome D’Ambrosio will be retained having raced for Dragon since the inaugural race in 2014.
