Bird believes he should be on equal points to Buemi

Buenos Aires ePrix – Sam Bird believes that he would be on equal points to Sebastien Buemi were it not for his pit stop issue in Hong Kong.

The Briton was on course to take victory at the first round of the season, but when his second car failed to start after his car swap he left with no points and Sebastien Buemi took the win.

Buemi took a second victory in Marrakech with Bird second, prompting the DS Virgin driver to consider the points tally had he won in Hong Kong.

“I should have won in Hong Kong. I was leading but then I had a bad pit stop. I know Seb won it, but we should have,” Bird told Motorbox Radio.

“And if you look at that, then he would have had a second and a first, and I would have had a first and a second. So then we’d be equal on points.

“Everybody says he’s so far ahead; he is, but we can win.”

As it stands Buemi leads the championship of 50 points after two victories, with Bird fifth in the championship on 18. Neither driver has scored bonus points for pole position or fastest lap.
