Daniel Abt will retain his seat at Audi alongside reigning Formula E champion Lucas di Grassi for the 2018/19 season.
Abt took his second victory of the season after a dominant display at his home round in Berlin, leading the team’s first 1-2 finish.
Despite this Abt did not have his seat secured, with rumours of fellow factory Audi drivers Rene Rast, Nico Mueller and former FE racer Robin Frijns being a potential replacement.
But Head of Audi Motorsport Dieter Gass announced on Saturday that Abt would remain in the team.
“Daniel has been showing strong performances in succession this season and in my view has enormously developed further both on and off the race track,” he said.
“Formula E with new cars and changed regulations is at the beginning of a new era. With our proven German-Brazilian duo we intend to attack again.”
Audi Team Principal Allan McNish added: “Daniel got his seat on his merit and purely on the job that he has done through the course of this year.
“I’m a big believer in giving people opportunities to show what they can do, he grabbed a hold of it and Berlin was a perfect example of what he can do with it. I expect to see a lot more of that.
“In my head I thought he would win one race this year, and that was one of my personal goals. He’s actually won three on the road, he’s got two in his pocket so he’s exceeded those goals in my view and I’m very pleased that he’ll be joining us and fighting alongside Lucas for what hopefully will be the title next season.”
Mueller has been brought on as Audi’s test and development driver, testing the Audi e-tron FE05 Gen2 car which will make its debut next season.
