Montreal ePrix – Lucas di Grassi says he has “no control” in the Formula E championship finale despite taking the lead of the championship.
The ABT Schaeffler Audi Sport driver took the win in the first of two races in Montreal, while rival Sebastien Buemi was fourth after a nightmare race.
This has given him the lead in the championship, for the first time this season, but di Grassi refuses to accept he can control the final race.
“Formula E, like I’ve said many times, can go from heaven to hell in one lap or in one wrong decision or one problem. Today we did the job but tomorrow is a completely different day,” he said, after turning over a ten-point deficit going into the weekend into a six-point lead after the first race.
“In Formula E you’re never in control of anything. We have at least eight drivers that can win the race tomorrow. So if you don’t do the job you could be eighth, and the points difference is 21 points.
“There is no control, as was seen today. Sebastien had an even bigger difference than I have now and lost it all.
“Tomorrow my advantage feels very small. I have to do hopefully the same as what we did today.”
