Jaguar unveil Gen2 Formula E car concept livery

The latest Formula E team to give teasers of season five cars

Jaguar have revealed their concept livery for their season five car, the I-TYPE 3, which will use the second generation Formula E car.

All Formula E teams will use the second generation car from season five, with the British team becoming the latest team to reveal their concept livery.

The second generation Formula E cars will have increased performance, a higher-capacity battery (eliminating the need for car swaps), a striking new chassis design, and incorporates the halo safety device.

James Barclay, Team Director Panasonic Jaguar Racing said: “This is a really exciting day for Panasonic Jaguar Racing as we take the next step on our electrification journey.

“We joined the championship so that we could take learnings from Formula E and directly transfer them from race to road to help shape future electric vehicles for Jaguar Land Rover.

“The concept livery of the Jaguar I-TYPE 3 is a progression from this season’s race car which we will unveil later this year.”

First team driver and season one champion Nelson Piquet was given the opportunity to drive the second generation car in a private test and believed the car to have a good foundation for development.

I had the chance to drive the Jaguar I-TYPE 3 development car in a closed test event last month. It was a big moment for the team, the championship and for electric vehicles,” said Piquet.

“The car made a promising, reliable start but there is a lot of development to do before we start racing at the end of this year. Now my focus turns to Rome. I love new tracks and I’m up for the challenge.
