DS Virgin Racing have confirmed the signing of Alex Lynn as reserve and development driver on a ‘multi-year deal’.
The former GP2, GP3 and Formula Renault UK driver will participate in testing sessions throughout the year and has previous experience with the Jaguar Formula E team, having been selected as one of the four drivers to share their pre-season testing duties.
Despite initially taking up a development role with the team, Lynn said he was pleased to have secured a role in the Formula E championship.
“Formula E is arguably the most competitive motor racing championship in the world, with the highest calibre of drivers,” said Lynn. “As a driver I want to be competing in the top series, which is why I’ve been trying so hard to get into Formula E, and DS Virgin was my first choice. So I’m delighted to have signed a multi year deal with DS Virgin Racing!”
“I like the combination of street racing along with the challenge of energy management. I think this series is going to suit me down to the ground. I look forward to working with Sam [Bird] and Jose [Maria Lopez] in testing and development of the cars and at the DS Performance sim in Satory.”
Lynn joins a team which has race-winning experience in the series. Regular driver Sam Bird has secured three wins in the opening two seasons of the championship.
The championship resumes on 18th February in Argentina, at the Puerto Madero Street Circuit in Buenos Aires.
